A night-shift CNA called me from a church parking lot near Seabridge Marketplace in Oxnard, close to 10pm. Her only key to her 2007 Dakota was gone. No spare, no idea where it went. She was about to call a tow truck just to get the truck somewhere safe for the night.

Under the church lot lights I cut the blade, seated the chip, and connected through the OBD-II port to write the new transponder into the SKIM module. Then I synced the four-button remote, tested lock, unlock, panic, and trunk, cycled the ignition three times to confirm no Security lamp staying lit.
She sat on the curb watching the whole thing. When the truck turned over clean, she just exhaled and stared at the steering wheel for a second. That was the whole reaction.
She drove home that night. A dealer would have meant a tow, a wait until morning, and a bill that makes you wince. She got it handled on the spot for a fraction of that.
