From there I plugged into OBD and ran the all-keys-lost sequence to wipe the old key from the immobilizer and register the new one as primary. His remote head key, FCC ID CWTWB1U545, started the car on the first try. I cut him a spare too so he wouldn't be in this situation again.
The whole job took about 45 minutes and came out to around 96. Dealer would have been roughly 211 plus a tow plus waiting until Monday. He drove home from that same lot with two working keys.
