2006 Honda Pilot Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Heritage Valley, a security guard called me around 11 at night. His only key to his 2006 Pilot had stopped being recognized by the car.
He'd already tried a fresh battery. Still nothing. The Pilot was sitting in his garage and he had a shift starting early the next morning, so the clock was already on him. He figured a tow was the next step and had started doing the mental math on how bad the week was going to get.
I told him to sit tight.
I drove out to Fillmore, pulled up to his place, and connected to the OBD port. The all-keys-lost procedure on these mid-2000s Hondas goes through the immobilizer using a diagnostic tool, clears the old key data from memory, and registers the new key. His remote head key, the 3-button unit with the factory FCC ID on the fob, got programmed right there under the garage light. Transponder enrolled, remote synced, tested on the door locks and ignition before I packed up.
He was back on schedule. No tow, no waiting three days for a dealer appointment, no standing around a service counter at 7am explaining the situation to someone who's never met him.
The dealer comparison barely came up. He just seemed relieved it was already done.
