I got a call from a woman who runs a chiropractic practice out of a small office building in the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach. She had a 2005 BMW 7 Series and her key had stopped triggering the locks remotely. The module had dropped it from memory. I cut a fresh key blade to the vehicle, built out the replacement fob with a new CR2032 seated correctly, and enrolled it through the OBD port. Then I tested every button, the door locks, the trunk release, and verified the car started cleanly off the new fob.
She was back inside before her next patient walked through the door. The car never left the parking lot. That's the whole story.
