2006 Buick Lacrosse Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Rancho Del Rey, I got a call from a guy who had been sitting on this problem for about two weeks. His 2006 Buick LaCrosse had one key left, and it was worn down to the point where it would occasionally fail to turn the ignition cleanly. He was babying it every morning, jiggling, adjusting, hoping.
He'd already called around. One shop told him they didn't do Buicks. A dealer in the area quoted him a timeline that pushed into the following week, and the price was the kind of number that makes you sit on it for two weeks.
When I pulled up, he was in the driveway, watching me park the van with this look like he wasn't totally sure this was going to work out. I get that. Mobile locksmith showing up in a neighborhood where most people just go to the dealer -- it takes a minute to build trust.
I looked at his worn key first. The blade was still readable, which helped. I cut a new key to match his lock, then programmed the transponder to his vehicle's security system on site. Tested it in the ignition, confirmed the car started and held -- no stall, no security light hanging on the dash.
He stood there for a second after it started, like he was waiting for it to change its mind.
It didn't. He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted, and he had it done in his driveway before the afternoon got away from him.
