2007 Buick Lacrosse
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2007 Buick Lacrosse Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Coronado Village, I got a call from a guy who had just landed at the airport after a long business trip overseas. He walked to the long-term lot, pulled out his key, and the 2007 Buick LaCrosse just sat there. No response.

He figured the fob battery had died somewhere over the Pacific. That part was probably right. But when he went to use the key blade to get in the door manually, he realized the spare was in his checked luggage. In the trunk. Which would not open without the remote working. He was standing on asphalt with a rolling bag and a laptop case and exactly zero options from the two shops he had already called, both of which wanted the car towed in.

I drove out and got the door open mechanically. Once inside, I connected my programmer and pulled up the key status on the immobilizer. His key was still enrolled, still recognized. The transponder side was never the problem. We replaced the fob battery, confirmed the remote was transmitting properly, tested the lock and unlock, and ran a quick check to make sure nothing had thrown a flag in the system from the repeated no-start attempts in the lot.

Car started right up. He had a working key in his hand inside forty-five minutes of calling me.

He mentioned the dealer was his first instinct, then he remembered it was a Saturday morning. That route would have meant Monday at the earliest, a tow bill, and waiting on their schedule. Sometimes the timing of a call matters as much as anything else.
