2014 Buick Lacrosse Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near Torrey Pines, just off the coast side of Del Mar, I got a call from a set designer whose 2014 LaCrosse had been giving him fits for about a week. He'd had a key made somewhere else -- one of those quick-copy places -- and for the first few days it seemed fine. Then it got weird.

Cold starts worked. But he'd park, run an errand, come back, and the car would crank without catching. Security light on the dash. After a few minutes of waiting it would usually start, then sometimes it wouldn't. He described it as "the car deciding whether it trusts me that day."

That pattern is pretty telling. An initial key learn can pass even with a mismatched transponder if the timing is right. The deeper verification the immobilizer runs on a warm restart is less forgiving. That's where a bad programming job shows itself.

I pulled up next to him in the lot, ran the diagnostic, and confirmed the key data wasn't matching what the vehicle expected. The transponder hadn't been properly enrolled -- it got close enough on the first cold start, then kept failing the follow-up handshake.

While I had it open I also checked the fob battery. The CR2032 was reading low, which had been adding a layer of intermittent remote lockouts on top of the start issue. Two problems presenting as one confusing mess.

New key, correct programming, fresh battery. I walked him through checking the blade pivot while I had it in hand -- still solid on his, which was good.

He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number I won't repeat but described as "genuinely upsetting." What he paid me was a fraction of that, and he didn't have to leave his neighborhood to get it done.
