The call came in from Fletcher Cove. A guy had just landed from a long overseas trip, retrieved his bags, and made it all the way to the long-term lot before realizing the remote on his 2001 Buick Regal was completely dead. No lock response, no unlock, nothing. The emergency blade was buried in his checked luggage, already loaded onto the shuttle, and the trunk release on these requires the remote or a physical key he didn't have in hand. It was a dead CR2032 that had taken out the remote signal, and then the remote had lost sync during the battery failure.
Swapped the cell, verified the contact tabs were sitting correctly, and ran a sync procedure to get the BCM and the fob talking again. Tested lock, unlock, and the trunk release right there in the lot. Everything worked. I tucked a spare CR2032 in the glovebox before I left.
He drove home that morning. The dealer route would have meant a tow, an appointment, and days of waiting. This was one visit, start to finish, before noon.
