In Rancho Del Oro, the houses back up to each other in a way where everyone shares the same narrow alley for parking. That is where I found her, standing next to her 2017 Buick Regal, holding a fob that looked like it had been through a washing machine and then run over once for good measure.

She went from one piece of electrical tape holding her key together to two working fobs in about 40 minutes. The dealer comparison came up exactly once, when she said what they had quoted her. I just nodded. The math speaks for itself.
