I got a call from a guy over near The Bridges in Rancho Santa Fe on a Saturday morning. He was running a recreational soccer league and the group was waiting on him. He had a 2012 Buick Regal sitting in the lot, engine cranking fine, then dying after about two seconds every single time.

I connected through the OBD port, cleared the prior failed key attempt from memory, and walked through the security access sequence properly this time, with the right timing. Ran the transponder relearn clean. Then I sat in the seat, turned the key, and let the engine idle while I watched for any security warning on the dash. Nothing. It just ran.
He was standing outside the window watching the whole time. When it stayed running past the two-second mark, he exhaled like he'd been holding that breath since the first tech left.
He didn't need a new module. He needed the job done right the first time. I showed him the confirmation on my scanner before I packed up.
