2000 Cadillac Seville
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2000 Cadillac Seville Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in the Border Area called me on a Tuesday morning. He had a 2000 Cadillac Seville and his only key had stopped working overnight. No warning, no incident he could point to. He turned the key, the engine cranked, and then it died immediately every single time. The dash was showing a theft deterrent warning. He figured the key itself was worn out.

I got to his location, verified the key blade was still engaging the ignition cylinder correctly, and confirmed this was a transponder issue, not a mechanical one. The key he had was original, years of use, and the chip inside was no longer being read reliably by the antenna ring around the ignition.

Cut a new key blade matched to his lock. Programmed the transponder to his vehicle on site. First turn, it started and held. No stall, no warning light.

He asked what the dealer would have charged. I told him to call and ask. He already had, which is part of why he called me first. The difference was enough that he asked if I could do a second key while I was there.

I did. Both keys programmed, both tested, done in the driveway. He never had to move the car.
