2024 Cadillac XT5 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He was at a steakhouse in Encinitas celebrating his anniversary when he realized his jacket was gone from the coat check. Keys, wallet, phone. Borrowed the host's phone, called the police. His wife called me from hers.
His 2024 Cadillac XT5 was sitting in the lot with no keys at all. She had already reached the Cadillac dealer. They told her three to five business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they wanted to reprogram the entire system since a stolen fob could still unlock the doors. The estimate made her quiet for a second before she called me.
All-keys-lost after a theft is its own procedure. It is not the same as adding a spare. The priority is wiping the key memory so the stolen fob is dead to the car. Can't unlock it, can't start it, nothing. I accessed the vehicle's security system through the diagnostic port, cleared every registered key, and enrolled two new fobs from scratch. Then I decoded the lock cylinder and cut the emergency blade inserts so both fobs were complete and functional. Not just programmed, actually tested, every button, both doors, the liftgate, the start.
I was done before the restaurant closed its kitchen. He drove home that night.
The dealer's estimate was a multi-day tow-in job. I was in the parking lot. That difference mattered a lot more than the money saved, though they saved a good chunk of that too.
