2019 Ford Flex
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2019 Ford Flex Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A dad in the Las Americas Area called me on a Monday morning. His 2019 Flex was his only vehicle and he needed a new smart key. He had already called the dealer. They told him Thursday at the earliest, and that was assuming the key fob was in stock, which it might not be.

He had a toddler in daycare. Thursday was not an option.

I met him in the daycare parking lot that same afternoon. The Flex was there, kid strapped in the back seat waiting to be picked up. He had one working fob left and wanted a spare programmed before he ended up in an all-keys-lost situation, which on these is a longer job than adding a second key.

I connected my programmer, ran the Ford smart key learning sequence, and kept the battery maintainer on the whole time because the Flex's security system has that timed enrollment window and I was not going to let a voltage dip kill the session halfway through. New fob paired, cut the emergency insert blade to the vehicle, then walked every function: passive door handle entry, lock, unlock, and confirmed the engine started on the new fob.

The whole job was done before he finished signing his kid out. He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted, and he did not need a tow, a rental, or a Thursday.

That is the job. Nothing dramatic, just done the same day, on site, where he already was.
