A mechanic shop off the main strip in Downtown La Mesa called me in on a Transit Connect that another locksmith had already touched. That is usually how the harder jobs start.

The owner needed a replacement remote head key. The first tech showed up, got partway through the programming sequence, and the vehicle battery dropped voltage mid-session. The body control module threw errors and went into a security fault state. The other locksmith packed up and told the customer to tow it to the dealer. The mechanic called me because he knew the owner and did not want to send him on a flatbed ride.

The owner had been bracing for a flatbed, a multi-day dealer wait, and a bill that made him wince when he said it out loud. He saved a good chunk going this route.
