He works out near Bressi Ranch and takes the park and ride into the rest of his day. Long shift. When he got back to the lot that evening, the 2018 Sonata just sat there. Fob did nothing. He held it against the start button like someone had told him once. Still nothing. He tried the door handle. Locked.

I connected the diagnostic tool, cleared the communication fault, confirmed both of his registered fobs were still enrolled, and did a full button check on the fob that had died. Everything came back clean. I also left him a spare CR2032 for the console so he's not caught out again.
He asked about the dealer on the way out. I told him the earliest slot was probably Thursday. He'd already figured that part out.
He drove home that night. The car never left the space he'd parked it in that morning.
