2022 Lexus NX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman in the Richland area of San Marcos on a weekday morning.
She had a 2022 Lexus NX and her fob had started doing something annoying: the driver-side door handle touch unlock would work fine, then randomly stop responding, then come back. She was pressing the button on the fob to get in instead. It had been doing it for a few weeks, and she finally called a dealer.
The dealer told her it was likely the fob and possibly a related module, and that diagnosing it would take most of a day. She would need to leave the vehicle. She asked if there was another option and someone pointed her to me.
When I got there she showed me the issue. The door handle sensor was reading inconsistently, but the fob itself was communicating fine. I opened the fob on the hood, found a CR2032 that was sitting ever so slightly off-center in the tray. The contact on one terminal had a small deflection, probably from someone prying the case open with a flathead instead of a proper tool. I corrected the seating, cleaned both contacts, and put in a fresh CR2032.
Then I walked every function. Driver handle touch unlock, passenger handle touch unlock, all four buttons, the lock confirmation beep, and the in-cabin start sequence. Everything came back solid.
She watched the whole thing. When the driver handle responded clean three times in a row, she laughed a little and said she had been blaming the car for a month.
She did not need a new fob. She did not need a day at the dealer. She needed someone to show up and do it right.
