Second, the fob shell itself. These remote head keys take some handling wear over years of use and the two halves can separate just enough to let the antenna alignment shift. Snap the case firmly closed and retest range before assuming anything else is wrong.

If range is still short after both of those, the fob may need to be re-synced. On this generation you can sometimes recover remote sync through an onboard sequence without full diagnostic equipment, but it depends on the situation. If the engine starts and then immediately stalls, that is a different read entirely and points to an anti-theft component that needs to be diagnosed on site. I bring the tools to read what the system is actually reporting, which tells us whether this is a fob issue, a receiver issue, or something in the security system enrollment that needs to be corrected.
