Ferry Landing was winding down after an outdoor vendor event near the water. Most of the trucks were already gone. One wasn't.
A guy running a food and goods setup had been using his 2026 Ram 1500 hard all day, loading and unloading, key in and out of the door lock repeatedly. At some point the blade snapped. Half of it stayed in the lock cylinder. He had the fob in his hand and nothing else was getting him into that truck. Another locksmith he called said the cylinder would need to be drilled out and replaced. He was looking at a real mess, time-wise and money-wise.
I got the call and drove out to Ferry Landing. The broken fragment was seated shallow enough that I could work it out without touching the wafer stack. Once it was clear, I decoded the lock from the cylinder itself and cut a fresh blade to match. The fob got rebuilt into a new housing since the original shell had taken some damage, and the chip transferred clean.
No drilling. The lock cylinder was untouched. The truck looked exactly like it did before the blade snapped.
He'd been quoted a number by the other locksmith that would have hurt. What he paid me was a fraction of that, and he drove out of Ferry Landing with a working key and an intact truck.
