Your 2011 Scion TC uses a Smart Key with 3 buttons on the face, a TOY43-profile blade extending from the bottom, and a transponder chip embedded in the plastic head. The blade is a 2-track cut that matches the ignition and door locks. Both the mechanical cut and the chip have to be right for the car to start.
