2003 Toyota Solara
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2003 Toyota Solara Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked off Beyer Boulevard near the San Ysidro Village area when she walked up to the van and asked if I was the locksmith she called.

She had a 2003 Solara. One key, no remote, and she wanted a spare before the one key she had decided to quit on her. Smart. Most people call after the key is already gone.

What made this one interesting was that she wanted the remote working too. The original had been lost years back and she had been unlocking manually ever since, which on a Solara means the key in the door every single time. She was done with that.

The key part came first. Decoded the existing key right there, cut a new one to match, confirmed it fired the ignition. Then the remote. The factory fob for this generation takes a CR2032, and the onboard programming sequence on the 2003 Solara is one of those rare cases where you can actually walk through it yourself with the door and ignition steps if you know the right cycle. I ran it through the proper sequence, all four buttons confirmed working, lock and unlock solid.

She asked what the dealer would have said. I told her parts, labor, and waiting around. She nodded like she already knew.

Real receipt, license number on it, company van parked right there. That part matters more than people think until the day it does not.
