I was in the Windsor North neighborhood in Oxnard when she called. Night shift nurse, just got off work, wanted a spare for her 2011 Acura RDX before something went wrong at the worst time.
First thing she asked for was my license. She had already looked up my BSIS LCO#6792. I respect that. Too many horror stories out there.
Her RDX uses the flip key, part number 35111-STX-325, FCC ID N5F0602A1A. Philips ID46 chip inside, separate from the remote side. I decoded the HO01 keyway, cut the new blade, then hooked up through the OBD port to register the transponder into the immobilizer. No onboard trick on these. It has to be done with proper diagnostic access.
While I worked, she told me the original key felt loose at the pivot. That tracks. Acura even put out bulletin B10-008 for retractable master keys that would not lock in the extended position on 2010 to 2011 RDX models. The fix was replacing the key case and pivot pin, not the whole car side hardware.
Once programmed, I cycled ignition, watched the green key light prove out normally, then tested all three buttons. Lock, unlock, panic. Clean.
She tucked the spare into her bag and said now she could finally stop worrying about being stranded after a shift.
