Got the call from Oxnard Beach Park around 7 AM. Guy with a 2025 RDX couldn't get the push-button start to recognize his key. Dashboard kept flashing "No Key Detected."
He'd already tried a new CR2032 from the gas station. Still nothing. The KR5TP fob wouldn't even unlock the doors anymore, so he was using the emergency key blade like it was 2005.
I popped the fob open right there in the beach parking lot. Battery was fresh but the positive contact tab had lost its spring tension. Common issue with Continental-built remotes. I bent it back slightly, cleaned both contacts with DeoxIT.
Then I checked for stored codes. Found a B1278 for driver door antenna circuit. That explained why proximity unlock wasn't working on his side. But the main issue was just that loose battery connection.
Once the contacts gripped properly, the RDX woke right up. Push-button start worked, all four doors locked and unlocked, power liftgate responded. Even the remote start function came back.
He mentioned the dealer wanted him to tow it in, wait three days for diagnostics. Instead, he was heading out of Oxnard Beach Park twenty minutes after calling me.
