Ormond Beach, Oxnard. The 2023 RDX sat in a beachside condo lot with one working smart key.
The owner had already been through it. Lost the spare months back, then his remaining KR5V2TX started acting up. Remote start would work from inside the condo, but the door handle touch sensor needed three or four tries. Classic weak battery symptoms on the third gen system.
I popped the fob on the hood. CR2032 was reading 2.8V, right at the edge. These need 3V minimum for the HITAG AES to communicate properly with the keyless access control unit. Fresh battery fixed the touch sensor issue, but he still needed that second key.
The 2023 uses part 72147-TJB-A51 for most trims. I verified against his VIN because Acura likes to change suffixes mid-year. Connected my IM608 through the OBD port, ran the security access timer, then registered both fobs to the immobilizer.
Test time: all four door handles for touch lock/unlock, remote start from 50 feet, panic button, power liftgate. The BCM accepts up to four smart keys, so he's got room for more if needed.
