2012 Acura RDX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

In Oxnard, over in the La Colonia neighborhood, a property manager called me about a 2012 Acura RDX. First-gen turbo, physical ignition, the three-button flip key.

Someone from a cheap ad had already been out. They cut a key that turned the engine over fine, but all three buttons were dead. Lock, unlock, panic, nothing. She kept hitting the lock button walking away from it, instinct, then circling back to check the doors by hand.

I pulled the key apart on her porch table. The shell was correct, 35111-STX-325, board marking 3248A-0602A1A, CR1616 seated right. The green key indicator on the dash cycled off at start, so the ID46 chip had been written to the PCM. That checked out. But when I scanned the MICU, zero remote IDs stored for that key. The last tech did half the job and called it done.

I re-ran the immobilizer registration through the OBD port, then switched into keyless entry registration mode on the MICU. Programmed all three buttons, walked every door, hit panic, watched the security indicator on the dash behave normally through two full key cycles.

She stood there watching the locks chirp and said, quietly, "That's what it's supposed to do."

No tow. No VIN-ordered part on backorder. Just the second half of a job somebody else skipped, done on site for a fraction of what the dealer quoted her.
