2024 Acura RDX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Five Points, Oxnard. Tire shop called me out mid-afternoon.
A 2024 Acura RDX was sitting in a bay with a key-not-detected warning and an immobilizer warning cycling back and forth on the dash. Another locksmith had tried to add a fob earlier that day and lost communication somewhere in the middle of registration. After that, the push-button start went dark even with the original fob present.
That kind of interrupted registration leaves the control unit in a bad state. It holds the fault, it blocks new attempts, and it does not care that the original key used to work fine.
First thing I did was hook up a power supply and bring voltage up to a stable level. Then I connected through the OBD port, cleared the stored faults, and watched what came back before touching anything else. Once the system was clean, I ran a fresh immobilizer registration from scratch. Timed countdown, no rushing it.
The replacement fob paired on the first pass. I cycled ignition, walked the exterior checking handle touch unlock on each door, then verified no warning messages returned on the dash. Left the shop running.
The shop owner mentioned the dealer had quoted a tow plus a multi-day wait. It left the bay the same afternoon.
