I was out near Hollywood by the Sea in Oxnard on a Tuesday when a woman walked up holding her 2008 RDX flip key with the blade half-open, kind of wiggling it at me like I could see the problem from ten feet away.
I could, actually.
The blade wasn't locking in the extended position. Every time she let go, it would droop back halfway into the shell. I moved her board into a new shell, cut a fresh blade to match her vehicle, and seated the CR1616 correctly before closing it up. Then I hooked in through the OBD port to run immobilizer registration, because any time you're opening that housing and handling the transponder setup, you verify the system sees the key cleanly before you hand it back. Green key light came on, then went off normally when the engine started. Remote functions tested out on all four buttons.
