2011 Acura RDX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already in the Windsor North neighborhood in Oxnard when she called. Night shift nurse, just got off work, wanted a spare for her 2011 Acura RDX before something went wrong at the worst possible time.
First thing she asked for was my license number. She had already looked up my BSIS LCO#6792. I respect that. Too many unlicensed guys out there with a Google ad and a prayer.
Her RDX runs the N5F0602A1A flip key with the Philips ID46 chip inside. I decoded the HO01 keyway, cut the new blade, then connected through the OBD-II port to register the transponder into the immobilizer module. No onboard self-programming trick on these. It has to be done with proper diagnostic access to the PCM.
While I worked, she mentioned the original key felt loose at the pivot, like it might not lock open one day. That tracks. Acura released service bulletin B10-008 covering 2010 and 2011 RDX retractable master keys that wouldn't stay locked in the extended position. The fix was a new key case and pivot pin, not anything on the car side.
Once programmed, I cycled ignition, watched the green key light prove out normally, then tested all three buttons. Lock, unlock, panic. Clean responses, no delay.
She tucked the spare into her scrubs bag and said now she could stop worrying about being stranded after a twelve-hour shift.
