A boat mechanic called me about his 2014 Acura RDX. He'd already swapped the fob battery with a fresh CR2032 and nothing changed. The dash kept throwing a key-not-detected warning even with the fob sitting right in the center console cup holder. Push-button start refused to cooperate.

He'd been ready to arrange a tow to the dealer. Instead the whole thing got handled right there in the parking lot, same afternoon, for a fraction of what that route would have cost him.
