His fob was the five-button KR580399900 with remote start, part number 72147-TZ3-A51. He told me he had spent two weeks reading AcuraZine threads trying to figure out if his truck used KR5T21 or KR580399900, because the parts diagrams online show both for the same model year depending on trim and options. He did not want to order the wrong board off Amazon and end up with something he could not return.
I pulled his existing transmitter, confirmed the FCC ID on the back label, and matched it against the VIN. On these third-gen RDX models the immobilizer runs a Hitag Pro ID47 chip soldered onto the smart key circuit board. Programming goes through the OBD port with Honda/Acura diagnostic software. There is no owner-level add-a-key sequence on this generation. The system just will not allow it.
While the new fob registered, I cut the emergency insert blade using the code series off his door lock. Explained why a hardware store copy would not help. The mechanical part might get the door open, but the vehicle will not start without a registered ID47 chip talking to the keyless access control unit.
Thirty-five minutes, start to finish. We walked every function: lock, unlock, trunk release, remote start from across his driveway, and push button start. All clean. He kept his afternoon in Silver Strand neighborhood and never sat in a dealer waiting room.
