2022 Acura RDX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got the call in Downtown Oxnard on an August afternoon. She had just finished a vet appointment at a clinic off the main strip and her 2022 Acura RDX would not respond to the fob at all.
Five buttons, nothing. The dash had thrown a keyless access warning earlier and then gone quiet. Her dog was in the back seat with the windows cracked. The dealer told her they could look at it the next day if she had it towed in.
I headed straight over.
First thing was getting the door open. The RDX fob has an emergency insert blade tucked inside the case, and I used that to get the door unlocked so she could pull her dog out into the shade. That part took about ninety seconds.
Then I looked at the fob. The CR2032 had leaked inside the shell. Corrosion on both battery contacts, and some visible damage on the board around the terminal area. That explained everything. A corroded contact does not just weaken the signal, it can kill it entirely, and in this heat the battery had probably been borderline for a while before it finally let go.
I swapped in a fresh fob, registered it to the vehicle through the diagnostic port, confirmed it to her memory slot, and walked every function before I closed up. Both front door handles for passive entry, the start button, lock, unlock, all five buttons.
From her first call to the engine running was under an hour. No tow, no next-day appointment, dog safe in the shade.
The dealer was mentioned exactly once, as the reason she called me instead.
