A 2024 Acura RDX was stuck in a bay with “Immobilizer System Problem” and “No Key Detected” flashing back and forth. Another locksmith had tried to add a smart key and lost communication halfway through the registration. After that, the push button start went dead even with the original fob.
This RDX uses the KR5BTP proximity key, Acura part number 72147-3S5-X01, five buttons, CR2032 inside. FCC filings show it transmitting in the 923 to 924 MHz range, and locksmith supply data tags it as a Philips ID47 Hitag AES chip. When programming gets interrupted on these, the Keyless Access Control Unit can hold a fault that blocks new registrations.
First thing I did was stabilize battery voltage. These are picky. Then I cleared the stored faults through OBD and started a fresh immobilizer registration with my IM608. Clean sequence, no rushing the countdown.
The new fob took on the first pass. I cycled ignition, checked walk away auto lock, tailgate release, remote start, and verified no warning messages came back.
The alternative was a tow and a wait. Instead, it left the shop under its own power the same afternoon.
