2001 Audi A8 Remote flip key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Worn flip keys on older Audis are one of the calls where the dealer quote and the actual fix are completely different jobs. The 2005 through 2010 Audi flip key has a HU66 blade that pivots out of a plastic housing with 3 or 4 remote buttons. After years of pocket carry and daily use, the flip pivot wears out, the blade gets loose, the rubber buttons go soft, and eventually the key barely holds together. The dealer wants to sell a brand new key, cut and programmed from scratch. That runs 473. Most of the time the Megamos transponder chip and remote electronics inside are perfectly fine. The customer just needs a new shell and a fresh blade.

A pharmaceutical rep at the tire shop in the Corriganville Movie Ranch area of Simi Valley had a 2001 Audi A8 with a flip key so worn the blade would not lock into position. She was holding it closed with her thumb every time she started the car. The dealer told her it was a full replacement.
