Saturday night in Simi Valley, over near Mountain Gate Plaza, a guy at a resort hotel had a 2005 A8 sitting dead in the valet lane. Zero keys. His proximity fob disappeared somewhere during a conference, probably locked inside a meeting room nobody could open until Monday. The hotel concierge told him it was a dealer-only situation. The D3 A8 is push-to-start with the KESSY system tied to the BCM2 module, part number 4E0 907 279. No key slot anywhere. No ignition barrel to turn. Without a registered fob in range, the car just sits there showing "Key not found" on the DIS display like it forgot it was ever yours.
I pulled the BCM2 EEPROM data through the ACDP programmer, sent it off to the calculation server for the Megamos 48 crypto values, got the return file, and generated a new key. Then OBD key learning through the diagnostic port to register the fresh NBG009272T fob with all four buttons. Cut the emergency HU66 blade on site so the driver door lock would work too.
He stood there watching the whole time, arms crossed, not saying a word. When the push-to-start fired the engine, he just uncrossed his arms and nodded once. That was it. No speech, no drama. The car started in a hotel valet lane on a Saturday night, which is the only part that mattered to him.
The dealer would have meant a flatbed ride and a wait until Monday at minimum.
