2017 Audi A8
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How long does a replacement key take once you are at the car?

For a mechanical key on this vehicle, faster than you'd expect. If there's a working key or intact blade to decode from, we cut on site. If we're going off the lock, that takes a few minutes longer to decode before cutting. Either way, you're looking at a single visit, done before you'd finish a phone call to the dealer.

Q: Can you make a replacement key faster than the dealer?

Yes, and it's not close. The dealer route for an A8 key typically means scheduling service, waiting on parts to be ordered, and coming back on a weekday. Owners on Audi forums regularly describe multi-day waits just to get to the cutting stage. We carry blanks on every call and handle the job in one visit, same day, wherever the car is sitting.

Q: My A8 key blade is worn and the ignition is getting stiff. Can you make a replacement from a worn key?

Yes. A worn key is actually one of the most common reasons people call. When the cuts get rounded off over years of use, the ignition starts feeling rough or intermittent, and eventually it won't turn cleanly at all. We can decode the original cut even from a worn blade, cross-reference it against the correct code series for the A8, and cut a fresh key to the proper spec.

Q: I found a replacement key blank online. Can you just cut it for me?

Sometimes, but check with us first. Not every blank cuts or fits the same, and a poorly made aftermarket blank can feel loose in the ignition or wear faster than it should. If the blank you have is a quality match for this vehicle, we can work with it. If it's not right, we'll tell you before we cut anything.

2017 Audi A8 Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Saturday afternoon in Wilson, Oxnard. A gallery owner flagged me down in her own parking lot. She had been standing next to her 2017 Audi A8 for about twenty minutes by the time I pulled up.

Her key had snapped. Not the fob, not the battery, not a programming issue. The physical key itself had broken off at the bow, that wide grip end, probably from years of a heavy keyring pulling on it every time she drove. The blade was still intact, but the piece she needed to actually hold and turn was gone.

She had already called the Audi dealer and been told to tow the car in, schedule an appointment, and wait for a replacement to be ordered. A Saturday, so none of that was happening until Monday at the earliest.

I decoded the cut right off the blade she still had. Ground a new one on the spot. She turned it in the ignition herself to confirm it, then tested the door. Took her about four seconds to decide the dealer story was not worth finishing.

The car never moved. She was back inside between showings before the next guest arrived.

Audi A8 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What if I need an Audi key replaced after hours or on a weekend?▼

Call us. Audi dealers run on weekday schedules, with limited Saturday windows and nothing on Sunday. Lose your only key on a Friday evening and you are looking at a Monday appointment minimum, assuming parts are already in stock, which for a vehicle like the A8 is not always the case. For a mechanical key job on this car, there is no factory system that needs to be online and no appointment window that controls our schedule.
