2000 Audi A8 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Royal/Kadota, a guy had a 2000 Audi A8 sitting in his driveway and a flip key that had stopped folding properly. The blade hinge had worn enough that it wobbled instead of locking into position, and one day it just stayed loose. He'd been jamming it into the ignition at a slight angle for weeks until the key finally wouldn't turn at all.

He'd already been to the dealer. They told him they'd need to order the key blank, verify ownership through their internal process, program it on a dealer visit, and the whole thing would take several days minimum. The quote he got back was what pushed him toward calling me instead.

I pulled up to his place with the right flip key blank and my programming equipment. The 2000 A8 uses a four-button remote flip format, and the transponder chip in the head has to be registered to the car before anything works. I cut the blade to match his door and ignition, ran the programming sequence, and tested every button on the remote plus the start cycle.

The worn-out key got him into trouble, but it also told me something useful: the ignition cylinder itself had a little slop from years of that blade wiggling around. I let him know so he could keep an eye on it. That's the kind of thing that only comes out when you're standing next to the car instead of writing up a work order from behind a service counter.

Whole job was done at his driveway. No tow, no waiting room, no callback two days later saying the part arrived.
