People lose all their Audi keys more often than you would think. The most common story is not dramatic. They bought the car used with one key, always meant to get a spare, and eventually that key cracks, goes through the wash, or disappears between couch cushions.
A spin instructor at the crossfit box lot in Woolworths Building downtown, Oxnard had exactly that story early in the morning. Her only flip key to her 2016 Audi A8 cracked at the pivot hinge and the blade snapped when she tried to fold it. The flip shell was in one hand and the blade was stuck in the door lock. Zero working keys.
I used my VVDI Key Tool to generate a fresh Megamos transponder chip while I extracted the broken blade with my Lishi. The VVDI Key Tool writes the correct immobilizer data onto a blank chip so the car accepts it as a registered key. Because her old flip key's circuit board was still intact inside the cracked housing, I was able to read the chip data and skip a full all-keys-lost reset. Her fob, FCC ID IYZFBSB802, was a 4-button flip key that I rebuilt into a new shell with a fresh blade and the salvaged electronics.
She went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. Total was 95. The dealer wanted 200. If you still have the broken pieces, bring them. The Megamos chip inside a cracked flip key is often still perfectly good.
