Here's what you're actually paying for when you get a 2003 BMW X5 key. Three things. The physical fob with the correct button layout and blade profile. The laser-cut blade matched to your car's lock. A customer at a ski resort hotel in Oxnard had his only BMW fob fail during a trip. Push-to-start wouldn't respond and the emergency blade wouldn't trigger the backup procedure on his model. The dealer said to tow it in and they could look at it the next afternoon. Quote was 395 plus the tow.
