Got a call from the Rice Avenue corridor in Oxnard. A woman's 2004 X5 4.4i had one key left and the remote buttons had been dead for months. She had been locking the doors with the blade and just living with it. Then the CR2032 leaked inside the fob housing, corroded one of the battery terminals, and cracked the little circuit board. The key still started the car because the ID44 transponder chip is passive, does not need battery power. But she knew she was one lost key away from a really bad day.

I met her in a parking lot off Rice Avenue on her lunch break. Pulled the VIN, confirmed EWS3+ with the Autel IM608 Pro, and read the ISN off the EWS module through OBD. Cut the HU92 blade to code, programmed the new PCF7935 chip, and synced the remote. Whole job took about 40 minutes.
She sat in the driver seat and hit lock on the new fob. The mirrors folded in and the car beeped once. She hit unlock, mirrors folded back out. Then she just quietly tried it two more times like she was making sure it was real.
