Your 2022 Lexus NX uses a smart key with 4 buttons on the face, a CR2032 battery inside for the proximity signal, and a small emergency blade that slides out for manual door entry. Inside is a transponder chip that communicates with the car's smart ECU every time you press start.

A customer at home near Pacific View Mall had a NX with a worn smart key. The rubber buttons were fading, the shell had a hairline crack, and the emergency blade slot was loose. She took it to the dealer and they quoted 591 for a full replacement fob. They didn't mention that the electronics inside were perfectly fine.
