2023 Lexus NX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call on a weekday evening from a woman staying near Faria Beach, out in Ventura. She was wrapping up a long trip and her 2023 NX had gone quiet on her. Pressed the start button, nothing. The dash showed a key warning and the car wouldn't wake up. She assumed the fob was dead, swapped in a fresh CR2032, tried again. Still nothing.
She called the Lexus dealer. They told her to tow it in and they'd see her the next afternoon, possibly the day after depending on the technician schedule. She was supposed to leave in the morning.
I drove out that evening. The new CR2032 she'd installed was actually fine. The issue was that the fob had lost its pairing with the vehicle's security system, which happens occasionally and is not a reflection of anything the owner did wrong. The fob itself was undamaged. I connected my diagnostic equipment to the OBD port, re-enrolled her fob into the vehicle, and verified all four buttons plus the emergency blade fit.
The whole thing took about forty minutes on site, including the time I spent walking her through the backup start procedure so she'd never be caught off guard again. She checked out the next morning on schedule.
The dealer comparison was almost an afterthought. She mentioned the tow estimate alone was more than what she paid me for the complete job. That part I'll let speak for itself.
