2016 Lexus NX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call late on a weeknight from a guy in the Wildwood area of Thousand Oaks. Underground parking garage, no signal, he had to walk to the street just to get a bar of service. His only fob was gone. Checked his pockets, the elevator, the stairwell, went back through the whole path twice. Nothing.

He didn't have his registration on him, didn't know his VIN off the top of his head, and was already thinking about calling a tow just to get the NX somewhere he felt better about leaving it overnight. He was calm on the surface but you could hear it in his voice.

I walked him through it on the phone. Driver's side base of the windshield for the VIN, or pull up his insurance app. He found it in the app. That VIN told me everything I needed: the key type, the fob configuration, the number of buttons. I prepped the correct four-button fob and had the right tools loaded before I left.

I met him in that garage. We worked under the overhead lights, which were doing that thing where they buzz and flicker every thirty seconds. Got the new fob registered, verified every button, checked the touch-unlock on both front handles, confirmed push-button start. He stood there watching the whole thing and asked about halfway through if it was really going to work in a parking garage with no network. Yes. The programming runs through the OBD port. No cell signal needed.

He drove out of there that night. The tow he was thinking about never happened. He texted me the VIN before I arrived, which is exactly what I ask for, and it meant I showed up with the right parts on the first trip.
