I got a call late on a weeknight from a guy in the Wildwood area of Thousand Oaks. Underground parking garage, no signal, he had to walk to the street just to get a bar of service. His only fob was gone. Checked his pockets, the elevator, the stairwell, went back through the whole path twice. Nothing.

He stood there watching the whole thing and asked about halfway through if it was really going to work in a parking garage with no network. Yes. The programming runs through the OBD port. No cell signal needed.
He drove out of there that night. The tow he was thinking about never happened. He texted me the VIN before I arrived, which is exactly what I ask for, and it meant I showed up with the right parts on the first trip.
