2008 Acura RDX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already in the Poway Business Park area when the call came in. Nurse finishing a late shift at the urgent care nearby, standing next to her 2008 RDX in the parking lot.
She needed a spare key made and wanted to see credentials before anything started. She told me she had looked up locksmith scam stories and wasn't going to hand her car to someone she couldn't verify. She had already checked the BSIS website before dialing.
That is exactly the right instinct. California requires mobile locksmiths to carry a BSIS license, and mine is public record. I keep the company van marked, the paperwork current, and a real phone number on everything I hand out. She looked at the van, looked at the license, and we got to work.
For the 2008 RDX, the flip key carries both the remote and the transponder in the same unit. The blade gets cut to the vehicle, and then the whole fob gets registered to the immobilizer. It is not two separate steps you can split up or do halfway. I cut the blade on site, programmed the fob through the OBD port, and walked her through testing every button and confirming the engine started clean.
She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that made her pause before looking for alternatives. She paid a fraction of that, got a real receipt with a license number and a working phone, and drove off with a spare she can actually use. The credentials mattered to her as much as the price. Both of those things should matter to you too.
