2017 Acura RDX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Fairbanks Ranch is not a neighborhood where people park in lots for long, but that is exactly where this one sat.
A personal trainer called me from the gym parking lot off Via de la Valle. He had a 2017 Acura RDX, one key, and that key was in two pieces in his palm. The fob housing had cracked along the seam, probably from sitting loose in a gym bag for a year, and when he tried to pull the emergency blade to open the door manually, the blade snapped at the base. The car was locked and he had nothing functional.
I got there and looked at what he had. The housing was split but the circuit board inside was intact. That matters on these. The fob's electronics were undamaged, which meant I could work with what was there instead of starting from scratch. I decoded the door with my Lishi, got him in, and then transferred the working board into a new housing with a fresh emergency blade and a new CR2032. Then I paired the rebuilt fob to the vehicle through the OBD port and tested every function before I left.
He went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. If the board had been cracked instead of just the housing, it would have been a full all-keys-lost job with a longer procedure and more time on site. The intact board saved both of us. I told him to get a key pouch. Whether he did is his business.
The dealer was an afterthought. He had already looked it up and knew what they were going to say. He called me instead.
