2006 Acura TSX Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy parked near the water in the Seacoast area of Imperial Beach. He'd been at a beach hangout most of the afternoon and came back to his 2006 TSX to find his only key wasn't starting the car. Engine would turn over, catch for a second, then die. He tried three more times thinking it was a fluke. Same thing each time.
He figured it was a fuel issue or maybe a bad starter. I told him on the phone that what he was describing sounded like the transponder in the key had either failed or lost its pairing with the immobilizer. He went quiet for a second, then said he'd dropped the key earlier in the day and it landed pretty hard on the pavement.
I drove out to him with the blank already pulled for his application. Cut the replacement key blade to match his lock, programmed the transponder to his vehicle on-site, and had him turn it over. Started clean, held idle, no stall.
He mentioned he'd called the Acura dealer before reaching me. They told him they'd need the car towed in, couldn't see him until the following week, and gave him a number that made him wince. He saved a good chunk going the mobile route, and his car never left the curb.
