A night-shift warehouse worker out near the Live Oak Park Area in Fallbrook reached out around 11pm. His 2013 TSX was sitting in the apartment parking lot and the car would not recognize his only key. The TSX uses a remote flip key that carries a transponder chip inside the housing. When the car has no working key in memory, the engine will crank and die, or just refuse to go. I connected my programmer to the OBD port and ran the all-keys-lost procedure for the Acura immobilizer, which clears the old key data and enrolls new ones from scratch. His replacement flip key -- four buttons, blade folded inside -- got programmed right there in the lot.
The whole thing took about 45 minutes. He was back on the road before midnight.
