I got a call from someone in the Live Oak Park Area side of Fallbrook. She had snapped her key off in the door lock -- about a third of the blade still sitting in the cylinder. The car was parked in her driveway and she had a full day ahead of her.
Her first call had been to a big locksmith chain that told her they would need to order a blank and could probably get to her by end of the following day. Her second call was to the dealer. They wanted the car towed in, said they would need to see the registration and ID, and could not give her a same-day turnaround.
I showed up with extraction tools and blank stock. Got the broken piece out of the cylinder without pulling the lock. Decoded the existing cut from the lock itself, cut a replacement blade on site, and walked her through the doors and ignition to confirm everything turned cleanly.
She was back inside her house in under an hour. The dealer route would have cost her a tow, a wait, and a fraction of her week.
