2013 Audi A4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A piano teacher over in Buena Creek called me on a Monday morning about her 2013 A4. She had a full afternoon of lessons and needed the car running that day, not Friday.
She had already called the dealer. They were booking key work four or five business days out, they would need the car towed in, and they were not sure they had her exact fob in stock. She drives her kids to school every morning and teaches lessons every afternoon. A week without the car was not a real option.
I met her in the lot near the music school that same afternoon.
She showed me the fob, which had been sitting in a cup holder for who knows how long with a battery that read almost nothing on my meter. I told her we would find out if the fob was the whole problem or just part of it. Connected my programmer to the OBD port, ran through the Audi smart key sequence, and let the system do the security handshake. The immobilizer on this generation of A4 talks back through that process in a way that tells you whether the module is healthy or if there is something deeper going on. Hers was clean.
New fob, cut the emergency blade to the vehicle, programmed it in, and walked through every function in the parking lot: locks, comfort access, everything. She had a working key before her first student showed up.
The dealer was still holding a Friday slot open. She did not need it.
