2011 Audi A4
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2011 Audi A4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach, a shop called me in on a recovery job that another locksmith had already started and left in bad shape.

The situation was an all-keys-lost on a 2011 A4. The previous tech had started the process, something went wrong during the module read, and the immobilizer stopped responding entirely. The shop's own technician could not get any key learning to work through the OBD port. The car just sat there. The customer had been waiting since the morning.

I pulled the body control module and moved to bench work. That means reading the encrypted data directly off the module chip, sending it through a calculation service, getting back the file I need to generate fresh keys and bring the immobilizer back to a known good state. It is slower than a standard job and it requires the right hardware and the right process, but it works when nothing else will.

I reinstalled the module, did the OBD key learning on site, and handed the customer a working 4-button proximity fob. Total time was close to two hours. He drove out that afternoon.

The dealer was not even in the conversation at that point. Nobody was towing a car with a locked-up module across town and waiting days for a service bay to open up. The shop called me because the job needed to get done that day, and it did.
