I was parked outside a tire shop in Ocean View Hills in Otay Mesa when she walked over and showed me her key. The flip blade on her 2004 Audi A8 would not stay locked open. She was holding it in position with her thumb every time she turned the ignition, which is exactly as awkward as it sounds after a few months of that routine.

She clicked it a few times, blade locked open the way it was supposed to, and that was it. No tow, no drop-off, no waiting for a callback from the parts department. The dealer wanted her to replace everything. The actual problem was a worn housing, and the chip inside that fob had years of life left.
