2013 Audi A8 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy in the Westwood neighborhood of Rancho Bernardo. He'd already been through it.
He searched for a locksmith, clicked an ad, and got a tech who showed up, charged well above the phone quote, and left him with a key that would physically turn in the door lock but couldn't start the car. The engine would crank and immediately die. Classic sign that the key was never properly enrolled in the immobilizer.
He found me through a Google Guaranteed listing and his first question wasn't about price. It was whether I was actually licensed.
I gave him my BSIS license number on the spot. That's California's Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. It means background check, active insurance, a registered business. He looked it up while we were on the phone, found it, and told me to come out.
When I got there, the fob that the first guy had supposedly programmed wasn't registering with the vehicle at all. The previous tech had gone through the motions without the right equipment. I ran the full immobilizer enrollment sequence through my programmer, got the key properly paired to the car, and walked every button and every function before I called it done. Lock, unlock, trunk release, all four buttons, and a clean start with no stall.
He asked about the dealer after the fact. I told him they could have done it, but the wait for a parts order plus a shop appointment would have taken days. I was done in his parking lot in under an hour.
